MW4 DMZ Wipes: Reset Policy and Retained Progress
Track what is officially known about MW4 DMZ resets and distinguish account-wide wipes from operator loss or other progression systems.
The reviewed official pages do not publish a seasonal wipe policy. Secondary reporting on the developer presentation says MW4 DMZ is planned without seasonal wipes, and that voluntary Operator Prestige resets only that Operator rather than overall quest progress. That is the best-supported current answer, but it is not an official first-party wipe declaration.
Scope: Launch policy status, checked 23 October 2026. The page distinguishes an unconfirmed absence of wipes from a confirmed announcement.

What is actually known
The absence of a wipe line on the official site is not proof that no wipe will ever occur. The strongest source here is a secondary report of what the developers said, plus the official FOB material on voluntary Prestige.
The fair status is “no seasonal wipes reported, nothing official found in this package.” A later announcement or patch can change that status, and this page should be updated only when such a source exists.
What resets and what carries
| System | Reported behavior | Support |
|---|---|---|
| Seasonal wipe | No seasonal wipes planned | Secondary report on developer briefing; no official confirmation found |
| Operator Prestige | Voluntary reset of that Operator | Official FOB guide and secondary report |
| Overall quest progress | Not reset by Operator Prestige | Secondary report |
| MIA loss | Individual Operator unavailable until recovery | Official FOB/deep-dive material |
| XP and traits | Long-term progression generally retained through a failed run | Official deep dive |
| Stash | Stored inventory persists between deployments | Official FOB overview |
Voluntary Prestige is not a wipe
Prestige resets the individual Operator to earn permanent benefits. The player chooses it. It should not be described as an account-wide seasonal reset or as a punishment for a failed run.
The decision depends on what is tied to the character: gear, Trait points and recovery cost. Use the Trait guide and Operator guide before resetting a developed character.
Why players expect wipes
The 2022 DMZ beta had historical wipes, which created an expectation that the newer mode would reset on a season boundary. A new mode with persistent Operators and a Stash naturally raises the same question.
Historical precedent is not a current policy. The current page keeps the 2022 context separate from the 2026 report rather than assuming the older schedule carried over.
What would change this answer
A first-party blog post, a patch note that explicitly schedules a reset, or a live in-game notice would be stronger than the secondary report. Until then, do not plan a stash around a promised wipe or assume that every season will preserve everything.
For the recovery system that is confirmed, see MIA. For long-term XP and FOB growth, see progression.
This is a status page, not a live policy feed. No wipe date is predicted or scheduled.
Common questions
Does MW4 DMZ have seasonal wipes?
Secondary reporting says no seasonal wipes are planned. The reviewed official material does not contain a confirmed wipe policy, so the answer remains provisional.
Does Prestige wipe my whole account?
The reviewed report says voluntary Prestige resets the Operator, not overall quest progress. It is separate from a hypothetical seasonal wipe.
