MW4 DMZ Bosses and Lieutenants

Identify the scope of MW4 DMZ high-value targets and find the prerequisites, encounter guidance and reward rules relevant to each one.

AT A GLANCE

The reviewed launch tracker knows 13 DMZ bosses divided into Commanders and Lieutenants. Commanders roam the map, while Lieutenants are named targets such as Gorani, Bale, Jang-ui, Iskra, Jin-Tae, Roze, Scavenger, Chemist, Doctor and Warden. Hunt Towers can reveal the nearest Lieutenant, and the Boss Board sells intel. Defeating a Lieutenant yields Dog Tags and a customized weapon; extracting with tags fills the Board but marks you for other squads.

Scope: Launch boss scope, checked 23 October 2026. The 13-count and some locations are third-party reports; no boss route or attack phase is claimed as complete.

Commanders and Lieutenants

The category matters more than a single damage strategy. A Commander is a roaming threat; a Lieutenant is an intelligence target with a named identity and a reward. Do not use one as proof of the other’s health, attacks or spawn rule.

How to find a boss

The official deep dive names Hunt Towers: climb a tower and use its terminal to receive intel on the closest Lieutenant. The Boss Board sells another form of Lieutenant intel, and the world can produce a random encounter without either tool.

Location reporting is less stable. Two third-party guides disagree on the positions of some named Lieutenants, including Gorani, Bale and Jang-ui. This page does not choose a winner from those conflicting lists. Use the live intel, the current map and a creator recording with a visible version if you need a route.

Drops and the Boss Board

A Lieutenant drops a set of Dog Tags and can carry a uniquely customized weapon with attachments and a camo finish. The tags can fill the Boss Board, but other squads can use the same tags to track the holder. That makes the reward a risk as well as a collection item.

The reviewed sources do not provide a complete drop table for every Commander or a guaranteed weapon roll. Do not treat a single creator’s drop as a universal reward pool.

Preparation and encounter limits

IGN recommends at least a strong weapon, a tier-two vest and a self-revive for a boss attempt. Those are preparation priorities, not a guaranteed build. The current loadout guide explains the persistent gear choices, and healing covers the downed state.

The reviewed launch material does not establish boss HP values, attack timings or a universal safe position. If a video shows a tactic, keep its visible conditions and do not assume it survives a hotfix or a different spawn.

Bosses are not player bounties

The Boss Board deals with AI Lieutenants. The player bounty system deals with rival Operators who become Wanted and are hunted by other players. They can both raise the value of an engagement, but they are different systems and different risks.

Common questions

How many bosses are in MW4 DMZ?

The reviewed launch tracker reports 13 known bosses, split between Commanders and Lieutenants. That is a tracker count, not a permanent guarantee for future seasons.

Where is each boss located?

The reviewed sources conflict on several Lieutenant locations and do not provide a complete verified spawn map. Use Hunt Towers, the Boss Board and the live intel instead of a static list.
