Is MW4 DMZ Third Person? Camera and Perspective

Check the camera perspectives supported by MW4 DMZ and distinguish deployment gameplay from base, training or spectator views.

AT A GLANCE

DMZ gameplay inside Hajin is first person according to the reviewed creator comparison and player discussions. The FOB is shown in third person so you can inspect the Operator, which can make the mode look like a third-person game outside a match. The sources do not establish a mid-match camera switch or a dedicated third-person playlist. A third-person FOV control is reported, but that setting is not the same as a gameplay mode.

Scope: Launch camera scope, checked 23 October 2026. No official camera-mode statement was found in the reviewed material; the answer relies on a creator comparison and player reports.

The in-raid perspective

The creator comparison shows the ready-up and FOB space with a visible Operator, then a first-person view after deployment. Player discussion describes the same split and says the camera cannot be switched in the middle of a match.

That is a two-context answer: third person at the base, first person during the deployment. It does not mean the whole mode is a third-person shooter.

Why the FOB looks different

The FOB is a preparation and social space. Showing the Operator from behind or from a wider camera is consistent with inspecting a loadout and seeing the purchased appearance. The base camera is not proof of the in-match perspective.

The FOB guide explains what the base’s visible stations do; it does not imply that the same camera applies during combat.

Can you switch to third person during a match?

The reviewed comparison and player report say no. The camera is locked to first person once the deployment begins. No official toggle or button is documented in this packet.

A training, spectator or cinematic camera would be a different context. The reviewed sources do not establish a training or spectator switch, so this page does not generalize the FOB view into those modes.

Third-person FOV is not a third-person mode

A player report mentions a third-person FOV menu setting and says there is no third-person playlist. That distinction matters: a field-of-view control can affect a camera without adding a gameplay perspective.

If the current game shows such a slider, check whether it changes the FOB camera, the in-match camera or only a preview. Do not assume the existence of a setting proves a playable third-person mode.

What remains unconfirmed

The reviewed official pages do not provide a camera-perspective statement. The current answer is therefore a source-based explanation from a creator comparison and community observations, not an official confirmation.

If a later patch adds a camera option, the useful update is the actual in-game control and its conditions, not a guess from a menu label.
