MW4 DMZ Early Access: Eligibility, Dates and Beta
Understand MW4 DMZ early access eligibility, its announced dates and how it differs from a multiplayer beta.
DMZ early access began on 20 October 2026 (PT) for people who digitally preordered or prepurchased any edition of Modern Warfare 4. The official announcement says it included all of DMZ. It was a paid preorder window, not a free open beta; the 2022 DMZ beta was a separate Warzone test.

Who qualified for DMZ early access
The official editions page says a digital preorder or prepurchase of any edition on any platform granted access to all of DMZ. That wording is broader than a single Vault Edition bonus and does not require a physical collector’s item.
Physical preorders are not described as an early-access path in the reviewed wording. If you are checking a historical order, look for the digital edition and the platform entitlement rather than assuming that every boxed copy included the same window.

The dates and the launch gap
The official wording gives 20 October (PT), three days before the 23 October full launch. Creator coverage of the rollout reports a 10:00 a.m. PT start, but that finer time is not stated on the official editions page used here.
This matters outside the United States: a PT morning start can fall on 20 October in the Americas and later on 20 or 21 October elsewhere. The official page also warns that actual play time can change with outages and time zones.
- Confirm which store account holds the digital preorder or prepurchase.
- Check the platform library for the MW4 download and any early-access entitlement.
- Use the platform’s local release display rather than applying an assumed time-zone conversion.
- After 23 October, treat the window as historical and use the normal launch route.
Early access was not an open beta
The 2022 DMZ appeared as a free beta inside Warzone. The 2026 mode returned as part of a paid Modern Warfare 4 release. Those are different products and different access models, even though both have been called “DMZ.”
The reviewed launch material does not establish a separate open beta for MW4 DMZ. A beta label on an older article or a community post should not be used to claim that the current mode is free to try.
Did early-access progress carry over?
A creator summary of the rollout says DMZ XP and weapon XP earned during early access counted toward Modern Warfare 4 career progression and camo progress. The official editions page used for the eligibility answer does not spell out the full carry-over policy.
That is enough to expect a progression connection, not enough to promise every item, quest state or stash entry. Keep that distinction when planning a fresh launch character, and check the account before assuming an early-access reward is present.
