MW4 DMZ Best Loot Areas: Routes, Risk and Resources
Compare supported MW4 DMZ loot areas by resource goal, access requirements and risk, using a stated basis for any recommendations.
There is no single best loot area for every run. The official overview ties police stations to combat and tactical equipment, hospitals to medical supplies and residential districts to crafting resources. The eastern heavy-fallout sector offers unique loot but requires a gas mask. Choose the area that matches the resource you are short of, then weigh the route against threat and extraction risk.
Scope: Launch map-loot scope, checked 23 October 2026. Area guidance is official design context; named keyed rooms and creator routes are reported separately.

How loot distribution works
Loot is not a single rarity ladder spread evenly across Hajin. The official deep dive describes the world as a set of functional districts: police locations are stocked for combat and tactical needs, hospitals can supply medical items, and residential areas support crafting materials.
That makes “best” a conditional word. A player who needs plates, a gas mask or a self-revive and a player hunting recipe ingredients are solving different searches.
Compare areas by the resource you need
The table ranks by decision, not by a made-up value score. A police station is the better stop only when combat gear is the need; a hospital is the better stop when the next run is short on healing.
| Goal | Area type | Main risk | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Combat gear and tactical equipment | Police stations and military sites | Armoured defenders and rival squads | Official deep dive; names like Police Weapon Depository are third-party reports |
| Medical supplies | Hospitals and clinics | Supplies may be scarce; patients and guards can create noise | Official deep dive and IGN beginner guide |
| Crafting resources | Residential and industrial districts | Lower-value loot can spread the squad out | Official deep dive |
| Unique high-risk loot | Eastern heavy-fallout sector | Radiation; gas mask required | Official deep dive |
What to prioritise early
Recipes and Weapon Manuals matter because they unlock crafting and direct weapon purchasing. They are not just another coloured item in a bag. Medical supplies and armour support survival, while a medium backpack adds Secure Slots that can protect finds through a bad ending.
If you are building from an empty stash, use the Free Loadout and treat the first run as a reconnaissance trip. Extracting one useful unlock can be worth more than filling every bag slot with common valuables.
- Take recipes and manuals when the route is survivable.
- Carry enough healing to get back out, not only enough to win the first room.
- Treat a gas mask as a prerequisite for the fallout sector, not an optional loot charm.
- Use Secure Slots for progression items that would hurt to lose.
The eastern fallout exception
The official overview describes an area of heavy fallout in eastern Hajin where a gas mask is needed to find loot available nowhere else. That is a high-risk, high-specificity route rather than a general “best” destination.
Do not enter without checking protection and exfil distance. The reviewed sources do not provide a complete radiation map, so this page cannot promise that a particular building or corner is safe.
Keys, locked rooms and reported routes
A third-party loot tracker names the Police Weapon Depository and the Air Base DRC Weapons Locker as keyed locations. Those names are useful clues, but the reviewed packet does not establish guaranteed spawns, exact key routes or one perfect order for every lobby.
Creator routes can become less reliable after the launch population spreads out or a balance change affects a room. Compare the intended stop with the live map and current inventory, then leave when the risk exceeds the value of the find.
Common questions
Are police stations always the best loot?
No. They are a strong choice when the need is combat or tactical equipment, but a hospital or residential area is better for medical or crafting-specific goals.
Are keyed rooms guaranteed to contain high-tier loot?
The reviewed material names keyed locations but does not establish guaranteed contents or spawn rates. Treat them as targets to check, not promises.
