MW4 DMZ Extraction: Exfil Options and Failure

Understand the extraction decision in MW4 DMZ and check the relevant exfil conditions, failure states and recovery paths.

AT A GLANCE

Extraction turns a run into progress. The official overview names helicopters and skyhooks as ways out. Leave with recovered gear and resources; exfil XP can raise your Dog Tag level, granting a Trait Point per level. Failing to extract can cost carried equipment and resources while other long-term progress remains.

Scope: Launch extraction scope, checked 23 October 2026. The 30-minute pressure and summary details are attributed to IGN’s guide; the site did not test a live exfil.

What extraction protects

The value of a deployment is not only what you find. It is what you can bring back. Recovered gear and resources can carry into future deployments after a successful extraction, while a failed exfil places the loadout and findings at risk.

The mode is designed around that tension: push farther for a better outcome, or secure what you have. There is no rule that every run should be a full clear.

Exfil options and how to judge them

The official overview names helicopter and skyhook extraction. The reviewed material does not provide a permanent list of every extraction point, so the active options must be read from the in-match map rather than a static coordinate table.

When choosing a point, check the distance, the cover on the approach and whether the noise has already drawn players. A shorter route can be more dangerous if it crosses a named objective or a supply-drop broadcast.

  1. Open the in-match map and identify the active extraction options.
  2. Compare the route with your remaining medical supplies and the objective still in progress.
  3. Approach with enough time to secure the area, not only enough time to reach the marker.
  4. Complete the extraction and confirm the post-run summary before starting another deployment.

The radiation window

IGN’s launch guide reports 30 minutes before radiation begins spreading and forces the run to end. The official overview describes radiation pressure without giving that exact timer, so treat the number as a third-party observation rather than a universal countdown rule.

The practical lesson still holds: build the exit into the plan before the first fight. A long route back becomes a much worse decision when the zone is closing and other players know extraction points are active.

Success, loss and what comes next

A failed run is not automatically a wasted account. The official material distinguishes the equipment risk from broader progression. Use the MIA recovery guide when the Operator is the immediate problem, and the loadout guide when you need to rebuild.

Risks around the exfil

The extraction point is a natural convergence point for players carrying loot, bounty hunters and anyone who heard the preceding fight. The reviewed sources do not establish a guaranteed safe landing zone or a schedule that keeps other players away.

Use the PvPvE guide to understand the player threat and the bounty guide when your tags or another player’s tags make extraction more dangerous.

Common questions

How many extraction options are there?

The reviewed source names helicopter and skyhook extraction but does not establish a fixed number of points on the live map. Check the current in-match map.

Do you keep XP if you fail to extract?

The official overview says there are no XP penalties for dying during a match and that broader progression can continue. Equipment and resources are the material risk highlighted for a failed exfil.
