MW4 DMZ Cash: Earning, Storage and Spending
Understand the uses of in-game cash in MW4 DMZ and the distinctions between earning it, retaining it and spending it on supported services.
DMZ Cash is the in-game currency used at the FOB and in supported services. Missions and Op completions are the primary source, and extracted Cash is wired to the FOB Wallet. It can buy weapons and attachments, pay for MIA rescues and Lieutenant intel, support bounty hunting and fund upgrades. A completed Dynamic Op is reported to pay 10,000 to 20,000 Cash, while IGN recommends a first Bank Upgrade at $20,000.
Scope: Launch economy scope, checked 23 October 2026. Exact loss rules for unextracted Cash are not established by the official material.

Cash is not COD Points
DMZ Cash is an in-game resource earned by playing the mode. It is separate from a paid currency such as COD Points and should not be described as a real-money wallet.
The Wallet belongs at the FOB. Extract successfully and the Cash is wired there; spend it on the base and its services before it can support another deployment.
How to earn Cash
The official deep dive calls Missions and Ops the primary source. That makes objective play more reliable than wandering for loose valuables, especially if the next purchase is a fixed-cost upgrade.
IGN reports 10,000 to 20,000 Cash from a completed Dynamic Operation plus a supply drop. Bounty payouts and rival Dog Tags are another route in the official overview, but their value depends on a player encounter and successful extraction.
| Source | What is reported | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Missions and Ops | Primary earning route | Complete objectives and extract |
| Dynamic Operation | 10,000–20,000 Cash plus a supply drop | IGN report for a completed operation |
| Bounties and Dog Tags | Substantial payouts | Win the player encounter and extract with the tags |
| Valuables | Sellable items at the FOB | Secure the item first |
What Cash buys
The supported sinks include weapons and attachments at the Gunsmith, MIA Operator recovery, Lieutenant intel and bounty station access. FOB station upgrades can also consume resources and Cash.
A $20,000 first Bank Upgrade is an IGN recommendation, not an official requirement. Compare it with the printer upgrades and the immediate gear need before copying the order.
What happens to Cash if you die?
The official overview supports the idea that extraction secures the reward and that expenditure is a key consideration. It does not explicitly state that every dollar carried at death is lost, retained or banked.
The safe planning rule is to treat unextracted Cash as at risk. If you have a purchase that would materially improve the next run, do not assume the balance is safe until you see the Wallet after exfil.
This is a material uncertainty in the reviewed economy sources, not a hidden zero or a confirmed full loss.
A sensible spending order
- Cover the next run with the equipment you can actually use.
- Recover a developed Operator when the alternative is losing more Trait progress.
- Buy intel only when it changes a planned boss or bounty attempt.
- Upgrade the Bank or printer when the bottleneck is capacity or crafting.
- Keep a reserve for the next recovery instead of spending every dollar on a marginal attachment.
Common questions
Does DMZ Cash carry between matches?
Extracted Cash is described as being wired to the FOB Wallet. The reviewed material does not establish a full loss or retention rule for Cash that is not extracted.
How much does a Dynamic Operation pay?
IGN reports 10,000 to 20,000 Cash plus a supply drop. The official overview does not print that exact amount.
