MW4 DMZ Loot: Items, Resources and Extraction

Understand the types of loot in MW4 DMZ and how finding, carrying and extracting items relates to future deployments.

AT A GLANCE

Loot in MW4 DMZ serves preparation. Four base crafting resources are gathered in Hajin, recipes and Weapon Manuals unlock new gear or purchasing options, and equipment such as armour, backpacks and medical supplies supports the next run. Resources can be sent automatically to the Stash; other items are colour-coded by rarity and compete for backpack space. Secure Slots on a medium backpack protect selected finds through death.

What goes to the Stash automatically

IGN’s beginner guide says resources such as Synthetics and Chemicals are sent automatically to the Stash. That reduces the need to choose between a common ingredient and a more immediately useful piece of gear.

Other items are colour-coded by rarity and occupy the backpack. They are not all equally valuable, and a higher colour is not a guarantee that the item helps the current objective.

Secure Slots and the backpack decision

A medium backpack adds Secure Slots. These are a small protected inventory area for finds that should survive a failed deployment. The reviewed packet does not establish one universal number of Secure Slots or a complete protection rule for every item.

Use the slot for progression-critical finds rather than the most colourful object. A recipe or manual can change future preparation; a duplicate valuable might be replaceable. The Stash guide explains how the protected items fit the wider inventory.

What to pick up first

Prioritise items that answer a current bottleneck. A player without a reliable weapon needs a usable gun or the materials to craft gear; a player preparing for a long session may value medical supplies and armour; a player building the FOB may value recipes, manuals and ingredients.

The official overview describes exotic ingredients as a major focus of exploration. That is a progression priority, not a command to ignore survival gear.

  • Take recipes and Weapon Manuals when the route is safe enough to carry them.
  • Keep enough healing for the exit as well as the fight.
  • Use Secure Slots for items whose loss would change a future plan.
  • Leave low-value duplicates when they crowd out a mission item or gas mask.
  • Check the route’s extraction options before filling every space.

Hidden caches and keyed rooms

IGN reports hidden caches partially buried around the map, while third-party trackers name keyed locations. Those are useful search leads, not guarantees that a cache or keyed room is unopened in your match.

For area selection, compare the resource goal in the best loot areas guide rather than treating every cache as an equal detour.

Common questions

Do resources take backpack space?

Some resources, including Synthetics and Chemicals, are sent automatically to the Stash according to IGN’s launch guide. Other loot remains in the backpack and is governed by its space and rarity.

What are Secure Slots for?

Secure Slots on a medium backpack protect selected finds through death. Exact slot count and protection rules should be confirmed in the current inventory screen.
