MW4 DMZ Side Ops: Objectives and Completion
Understand the role of Side Ops in MW4 DMZ and distinguish their objectives and completion conditions from other operation types.
Side Ops are optional activities found in Hajin rather than a separate deployment playlist. The official overview names three examples: locating trucks across the map, finding lost supply drops and scaling damaged radio towers. A repaired truck can gain useful functionality, so the activity can have a tangible payoff. The reviewed material does not establish a complete Side Op list or a fixed reward table.

What counts as a Side Op
A Side Op is a smaller task encountered in the open world. It sits below the narrative focus of a Story Mission and the generated structure of a Dynamic Operation, but it can still change how a location or piece of equipment works.
The exact discovery UI is not fully described in the reviewed sources. Treat any in-world prompt that offers a small optional objective as a candidate and verify its completion state before leaving.
Confirmed examples and outcomes
| Activity | What the player does | Established outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Locate trucks across Hajin | Find and recover the vehicles | A repaired truck gains advantageous functionality |
| Find lost supply drops | Search for the missing supplies | The official overview names the activity, not a complete loot list |
| Scale damaged radio towers | Climb to the damaged structure and interact | The official overview names the activity; the reviewed source on the exact interaction is partial |
How they are selected
Side Ops are not one of the three deployment focuses described for Story Missions, Dynamic Operations and Free Roam. They appear in the world while the squad is already deployed.
The reviewed packet does not show a full Side Ops board or a menu that lists every available activity. If a radio tower or truck requires a specific tool, the current in-world prompt should take precedence over a generic route.
Side Ops versus other objectives
| Type | Typical start | Completion | Scale |
|---|---|---|---|
| Side Op | Found in the world | Finish the local activity | Small, optional |
| Dynamic Operation | Deploy focus or phone | Complete a generated multi-step chain | Multi-stage, match-defined |
| Story Mission | Deploy focus | Complete narrative objectives at a POI | Narrative-led |
When a Side Op is worth the detour
Do one when its payoff helps the current run or a future preparation step. A repaired truck can be useful; a supply search can restock a squad; a radio tower can reveal or change a local opportunity. None of those are guaranteed to justify a long, exposed detour.
Check extraction distance and your remaining healing first. The extraction guide explains why a safe exit matters more than one extra optional goal.
Common questions
Are Side Ops the same as Dynamic Operations?
No. Side Ops are smaller optional activities found in the world; Dynamic Operations are generated multi-step objectives that can be selected at deployment or started from a phone.
Is there a complete Side Ops list?
The reviewed material does not provide one. The official overview names truck recovery, lost supply drops and damaged radio towers as examples.
