MW4 DMZ Crafting: 3D Printer and Materials
Understand the role of the 3D Printer in MW4 DMZ and organize crafting questions around recipes, materials and output handling.
Crafting happens at the FOB’s 3D Printer, not in a temporary field station. You gather resources in Hajin and return them to the base. The base resource families are Synthetics, Electronics, Chemicals and Metals; recipes unlock through DMZ levels or by finding them as loot. The printer can create functional equipment and support gear, but not primary, secondary or melee weapons.
Scope: Launch crafting scope, checked 23 October 2026. The exact recipe list and higher-tier upgrade costs are not claimed complete.

Where crafting happens
The 3D Printer is part of the FOB. That makes it a between-run planning tool: collect resources during a deployment, extract, then choose what to make before the next one.
If you are still inside Hajin, you cannot instantly turn a found ingredient into a finished item at a field bench. Secure the resource and get it back to the base.
Resources and recipes
Recipes are described as level unlocks from DMZ progression and as loot found during deployments. A higher-tier recipe can also depend on progress or a previous printer upgrade; do not assume that having one ingredient is enough.
| Family | Known role | What the packet does not provide |
|---|---|---|
| Synthetics | Printer resource | A complete per-recipe quantity table |
| Electronics | Printer resource | A complete per-recipe quantity table |
| Chemicals | Printer resource | A complete per-recipe quantity table |
| Metals | Printer resource | A complete per-recipe quantity table |
| Recipes | Unlock usable crafting options | Every recipe effect and material total |
What the printer can make
The official deep dive lists night-vision goggles, ballistic vests, backpacks, consumables, killstreaks and other specialised equipment as examples. It explicitly excludes primary, secondary and melee weapons.
That distinction keeps the printer focused on preparation rather than replacing the Gunsmith. Check the output against your current loadout and storage space before spending materials.
Printer and station upgrades
The official overview describes an upgradable 3D Printer that unlocks increasingly advanced crafting options. A third-party guide reports that certain high-tier recipes require progression milestones or prior upgrades.
The reviewed packet does not supply a complete upgrade tree or every price. Treat listed milestones as gates to confirm in the FOB, not a universal order that every player should follow.
A practical crafting loop
- Identify the next gear or support item that would change a planned run.
- Check the recipe for its resource families and any unlock condition.
- Loot those resources deliberately on the next deployment.
- Extract and confirm the resources reached the Stash.
- Craft at the FOB and move the output into the relevant Operator’s loadout.
Exact outputs are not guaranteed if the current patch has changed a recipe. The live Printer menu is the authority.
